What is Shingon Reiki

Reiki — and then
a whole world more.

Shingon Reiki is not a different Reiki. It is Reiki in its complete form — with everything Mikao Usui brought back from Japan and almost everything the West later let go: the Buddhist dimension.

The decisive difference

Reiki can do more.
It always could.

The core

In Shingon Reiki you do not only receive the classical Reiki initiations — you also receive Buddhist initiations into the forces of living Buddhist spirits. Medicine Buddha. Fudo Myoo. Jizo Bosatsu. And many more. These forces are transmitted through the hands — direct, precise, in a way that is not possible in classical Buddhism alone.

What classical Reiki does

Classical Western Reiki passes universal life energy through the hands. It relaxes. It harmonises. It supports well-being. The force flows — but without a specific quality directed through it. A Reiki channel is an open channel.

What Shingon Reiki carries on top

In Shingon Reiki, what flows through the hands is not only Reiki force — it is also the specific force of the Buddhist spirit you have been initiated into. Fudo Myoo for the dissolution of karmic patterns. Jizo Bosatsu for solace and shelter. Every spirit brings its own unmistakable quality.

Different from esoteric Buddhism too

In esoteric Buddhism, you meditate with these spirits — you ask for their force for yourself and for all beings. The transmission of that force through the hands onto another person is not part of that path. Shingon Reiki connects both worlds: the initiation into the force of the spirit and the direct transmission through Reiki. This combination exists nowhere else.

Mikao Usui's original intention

Reiki was never only
about treating symptoms.

Mikao Usui had a clear aim: the development of supernatural abilities, spiritual growth, a life of abundance — inner and outer. Almost all of that was lost in the Western Reiki world. In Shingon Reiki, it is the core.

Usui's intention

Reiki was meant to help people grow spiritually and personally — and step into a life of inner and outer abundance. It was not first about easing outer symptoms. It was about waking up what already lives inside you.

The seven secret Reiki techniques

Already from Shingon Reiki Level 1, you receive access to the first seven secret Reiki techniques for amplifying spiritual capacities and refining subtle perception. These techniques are unknown or lost in other Reiki lineages.

What that means in practice: in a few weeks, you can build a force in your hands that takes others years — or never develops at all. Not through talent. Through the right techniques.

What sharpened perception opens

With refined senses, completely new possibilities open in energy work and in your own practice. You feel more. You see more — not through speculation. Through direct experience.

And at the same time, Shingon Reiki carries the spirit of the Bodhisattva path — the choice to be there for others as long as it is needed. To help others walk their own heart's path. To live their vision. To unfold their force. Not because you have to. Because the heart wants to.

⚡ Fast
Build force in weeks, not years

What others need years for or never reach — the seven secret techniques make it possible in a short time. Tangible. Real. Not theoretical.

👁️ Deeper
Refine your perception

Sharpened perception opens new possibilities — in energy work, in your own practice, in everyday life.

🌿 Grow
Spiritual and personal development

That was Usui's actual aim. A life of inner and outer abundance — not someday. Now. With every step on the path.

Sensuality as foundation

Reiki is a sensory experience. That sounds obvious. It is not. In most Reiki lineages, energy is passed on almost sterilely. As if distance were more professional than presence.

Shingon Reiki goes the other way. Subtle capacities only develop where the senses are awake. Where you are actually present. Where the connection between people is real — not managed. The quality of that connection determines the depth of the effect. This is not an esoteric claim. This is experience from decades of practice.

Targeted applications

Not generic —
precisely right.

Classical Reiki has standard applications. Shingon Reiki goes further: specific sets of hand positions that, in exactly this combination, bring about a very particular effect.

The principle

It is not only about single hand positions and their effects — it is about targeted combinations that together produce something the individual parts cannot. And it is not only about outer symptoms — it is about the deeper cause behind what shows on the surface.

🌅 Morning
Wake well — step into the day with momentum

A specific set for the morning. You get up, you are clear right away, motivated — ready for what the day brings.

☀️ Afternoon
Deep relaxation — let the stress go

For the hours when the day starts asking its price. This set releases accumulated stress — deep, tangible, lasting.

🌙 Evening
Sleep well — come to rest

The crossing from day into night as a practice of its own. Not just falling asleep — letting go. Completely.

These are just examples. The Shingon Reiki Master Path and the advanced initiations carry sets for many specific themes and situations.

The lineage

Not from books.
From living transmission.

Shingon Reiki comes from a direct lineage — from master to practitioner, from initiation to initiation. That is not a concept. That is the difference you actually feel.

Common questions

FAQ

What does Shingon mean?
Shingon (真言) means "true word" and refers to a school of esoteric Buddhism brought to Japan in the 9th century by Kukai (Kobo Daishi). The Shingon tradition works with mantras, mudras, and mandalas as paths to direct experience.
Is Shingon Reiki a religion?
No. Shingon Reiki uses practices from the Shingon tradition, but it is not a religious system. You do not have to believe anything — you experience it in the practice. People of every background practice Shingon Reiki.
Why is meditation so important in Shingon Reiki?
Meditation is the foundation. In the original Reiki, meditation was never optional — it sharpens perception, deepens the connection to the energy, and anchors the practice in everyday life. Shingon Reiki restores that original connection.
What role do the Reiki symbols play?
The Reiki symbols have their roots in Japanese calligraphy and esoteric script. In Shingon Reiki they are not only used as tools — they are practiced in their full cultural and spiritual depth, the way they once arose in the temples of Japan.
